Club History

On September 16, 1961, the Junction City Pilot Club was chartered with 19 willing members.  We were the 12th club organized in the Kansas-Missouri District.  The event was held at the Lamar Hotel with about 75 people in attendance.  Irene Rogers was installed as the club's President.

In the early years the club struggled to survive financially, but with the dedicated work of the members, the club pushed on and began an annual Smorgasbord in May 1963.  From net profits of a few hundred dollars the first year to over $2,000, the Smorgasbord has been the most successful of many major fundraisers throughout the years.  These proceeds support the service projects of the club.

We have carried out a wide variety of projects to aid our community and its individual peple, with special emphasis on helping the handicapped, elderly, and children.

Mission Statement:  To provide a focus of service, leadership, education and friendship in our community

Irene Rogers, Charter President of the Junction City Pilot Club was honored with a 90th birthday party January 23.  Irene is still an active Pilot member.
